Six Smart Study Tips To Save Time

Finding a balance between studying, sports, and your social life can be a bit of a challenge. However, if you improve your study process with a few time saving tips, you’ll be able to find time to get everything you want done in life. Here are six to save time and get your studying done quicker and with higher retention:

1.    Review your notes:

Reviewing your notes will help trigger your memory. They will also help you understand what is important to your teacher and what materials you need to focus on.

2.    Review corrections:

Anytime you get a paper or an exam back from your teacher, review their corrections. If you miss a question or get a mark for providing the wrong information, that is what you need to review. Reviewing your corrections will help you build a strategy for what you need to focus on. That way you don’t waste any time studying the materials you already know.

3.    Get a study guide:

Ask your teacher for a study guide so you know exactly what you need to focus on to learn the material. This way you don’t have to sort through all of the information to find what it is you need to study.

4.    Focus on understanding not memorizing:

You can remember facts and answers, but you are better off understanding the process. For example, you can memorize that the answer to 2+2 is always 4, but you’re better off understanding why 2+2=4, so when you come across an equation you’ve never seen before, you will understand how to retrieve the answer.

5.    Get a study buddy:

Grab a classmate or a friend for study time. That way when you run across something you don’t understand, they will be able to explain it to you instead of you having to just figure it out on your own. Plus, if they don’t understand something, that gives you the opportunity to explain it so you know it better yourself.

6.    Reduce distractions:

Put away your smartphone, go somewhere quiet, and really dedicate yourself to your homework. If you have a bunch of distractions, then studying will take you much longer because you’ll be wasting your time on other things.

These simple tips will help reduce your study time. With more time, you will have less pressure in your life and be able to do all the things you want. Always remember: Study smarter, not harder.
